Halmoni is so excited to present Fattyland--a clothing swap event focused on building community for bay area women of the plus size community--a community that continues to be underserved in the fashion scene of San Francisco and Oakland.

 

It's going down,once again!

 

FATTYLAND kicks off on April 10th as a clothing swap for fat femmes. Come meet new friends, trade clothes and have fancy drinks in a supportive and nurturing space that promotes a body positivity, community building and fashion!

 

Fattyland is being held at The Blueprint, Oakland’s newest coworking space, located near Lake Merritt. It’s really two spaces in one: a creative co-working space in the front and a cozy tea lounge in the back called the Tea Oasis. It’s also a community events space.

 

This is going to be an epic event! Get your tickets before we sell out!

FAQ's

 

What should I bring?

You should bring at least one bag of clothing, accessories, shoes or anything you no longer have use for. Everything should be clean and gently worn.

 

Do I have to pay to get in?
Yes. You can pre-purchase your ticket to Fattyland for $25. There will be no ticket sales at the door.

 

What sizes do you carry?
The event will have clothing sizes Large to 6x and all sizes of shoes and accessories.

 

Can I donate to the event?
Yes! We are looking for clothing sizes Large through 6x of all kinds and shoes and accessories. We ask that donations be clean and gently used, free of pet hair, and as close to smoke/scent free as possible.

 

I want to get involved! How can I help?
Volunteer! We will need help on the day of the event with set up, break down and clean up. We are also looking for volunteers who will (if you have a car) drive around to collect clothing/donations. All volunteers get free admission. 

 

What do you do with clothes leftover clothing?
Whatever is left at the end of the swap is donated to a non-profit, The Serenity House, that helps women in Oakland with PTSD.

 

Are there fitting rooms?
Yes! There will be a communal, body-positive try-on area behind screens.

 

Is there parking?
There is only street parking and one nearby ADA designated parking spot.

 

Is the event space accessible?
The route from ADA parking to entrance is flat and paved. There is a ramp at the entrance. The event space has thin carpet that can be navigated with wheelchair.There is no clear signage but the main entrance is accessible with no stairs. The door has a bar style handle (not a knob) and is relatively light, the door is not automatic but there will be volunteers present to help hold open door. Restrooms are accessible and have bars on the walls. There will be couches and chairs. All clothing will be on tables or hung on hangers.

 

What is the layout of the event?
The chairs are moveable, except couches along the walls. There will be designated seating areas. The main space will have some folding tables for the clothes. There are also tables along the walls which are collapsible.
